The central challenge was addressing the emotional difficulty of a loved one’s move to care by creating dining environments that felt less like a facility and more like a welcoming, established home and community hub.
The strategy involved deliberately moving away from clinical or sterile language towards concepts of hospitality and familiarity. I developed clever puns and inviting language to reassure both residents and their families, explicitly reminding them of the joy of being among others. This approach ensures that care facilities utilizing the 'Gather' brand can successfully communicate a warm, inclusive message: all are truly welcome to gather around the table in this new home, ensuring the dining experience nourishes both the body and the spirit.
